Willie Batson is the Founder and President of Family Builders Ministries, an organization committed to equipping couples, parents, and those who minister to them with tools for building great marriages and families.
Cindy & Willie were married in 1972 after becoming forever friends while students at Berkshire Christian College. Cindy is trained in elementary education and spent 18 years in the special education field. She currently serves with Willie in the development and expansion of their ministry, Family Builders Ministries. They have two married daughters and 4 grandchildren, with whom they love spending time.
Willie and Cindy are well acquainted with the unique needs of couples dealing with chronic illnesses and disabilities. More than twenty-one years ago Cindy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an auto-immune disease that has progressively disabled her to the point of spending most of her waking hours in a wheelchair. They wrestle with the challenges this chronic illness presents daily in our marriage.
Willie is an ordained pastor and has served churches in South Carolina, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine. Willie & Cindy are actively involved in mentoring couples and parents. They are members of Grace Community Church in Rochester, NH, where Willie serves as an Elder and the church’s Marriage Ministry Pastor.
In June 2008, Willie had his first book published, Tools for a Great Marriage. It has been well-received, with 7,000 copies now in the hands of married couples. Willie & Cindy are currently working on a second book specifically for couples dealing with a chronic illness or disability in their marriages. They expect to publish it in early 2013.
In 1987, Willie founded Family Builders Ministries as an outreach and educational tool for churches and conference centers in the building of healthy marriages and families. He has conducted seminars, workshops, and retreats for churches and conferences in New England and other states. Family Builders Ministries was incorporated into the ministry of Vision New England in 1994. In October 2006, Family Builders Ministries became a non-profit religious corporation chartered by the State of Maine. Working with a Board of Directors, Willie now serves as the President of the organization to continue leading it in serving couples, families, and churches who want to build strong, healthy, and lasting relationships.
